在国家电网内作业，分类：电工进网作业许可证分为低压、高压、特种三个类别。
电工证有三种： 1、特种作业操作证：作业种类：电工(俗称 操作证、上岗证)。分类： 高压操作、低压操作。 2、电工进网作业许可证：可以在国家电网内作业。分类：电工进网作业许可证分为低压、高压、特种三个类别。 3、职业资格证书：从事职业：电工(俗称 等级证)，分类：为五个等级：初级(五级)、中级(四级)、高级(三级)、技师(二级)、高级技师(一级)。
三个证件的区别是:
电工特种作业操作证，是主管部门对单位进行安全生产检查的重要内容之一，是追究单位和作业人员安全事故责任的重要依据，因而也是用人单位招聘和录用的首要依据。从事低压电气操作、安装、维修等，必须取得电工特种作业操作证方可上岗工作。
电工进网作业许可证，是表明电工具有进网作业资格的有效证件，进网作业电工应当按照规定取得电工进网作业许可证，未取得电工进网作业许可证或者电工进网作业许可证未注册的人员，不得进网作业。
需要注意的是，这三个证书都必须按国家的法令法规执行和操作，并且这三证在全国范围内通用的，任何私人机构没有权力发放相关证书。
电工职业资格证书，是表明从事电工职业的等级资格的证明，是证明持证人电工知识和技能水平高低的，是持证人求职、任职、开业的资格凭证，是用人单位招聘、录用、招调的过程中，能力体现、工资定级的重要依据。它不能代替电工特种作业操作证，单独持此证是不能从事电工工作的。
